"Heart full, but feet on the ground!", was the message of Mrs. Irena Beqiraj, senior executive and finance expert, with 22 years of experience in leadership and technical expertise, invited by the Department of Economics and Business to discuss with students at the beginning of the new academic year. Mrs. Beqiraj shared with the students her long professional journey, integrating it with knowledge in the field of finance, economy, projects, and policy-making. During the interactive discussion, Mrs. Beqiraj advised the students to make good use of their time, turn it into an investment and value the knowledge they acquire during their academic journey. 12JUN Financial Technology and Law" Summer School Bedër University College in collaboration with Tor Vergata University in Italy organize the "Financial Technology and Law" Summer School, an intensive 2-day course, under the direct responsibility of the Department of Economics and the Department of Justice of the two respective institutions. The summer school consists of theory-based lectures and practical cases. Participants will be introduced to the latest developments in financial technology, the impact that technology will have on the financial sector and the necessity of the legal framework. The focus of the course will be the necessity of combining sectors, the challenges and needs in the field, and the commitment of all stakeholders for a sustainable development. As a program that promotes learning new skills related to software and creating connections between experts in these fields in Albania, some of the most experienced professionals from the fields of Web Programming, Object Oriented Programming and Data Mining were invited. During this program, the topics developed were related to various platforms, technologies and frameworks which help a software developer by facilitating the experience as a programmer. Some of the most interesting topics covered were Azure for Developers, which is Microsoft's virtual space (Cloud) that provides a series of functions for websites. Python and Django Rest Framework which was explained through a practical example followed by the participants in the computer lab environment. Also, it was talked about the various Web Technologies that are developing day by day. These topics and more were accompanied by various discussions and questions from Code Camp 2023 participants. 22MAY The Young Economist Essay The Department of Economics and Business at Bedër University College organized the prize-giving ceremony for the best papers of the "The Young Economist Essay" contest, where high school graduates from all over Albania participated. This activity aimed to encourage young people to research more topics that are trending in the field of economics interwoven with technological developments. In the final stage of the competition, 20 high school graduates participated with their works, which were evaluated by jury members appointed for this purpose. The evaluation components had a series of criteria, starting from originality, novelty, analytical approach, method, etc. As a final result, the 3 best papers were selected and awarded with the following prices: 🏆 The first place won a 100% Scholarship + Laptop and was given to the paper on the topic "Electronic Money" 🥈 The second place won the 100% scholarship and was given to the paper on the topic "the role of entrepreneurship, innovation and technology in economic growth". 🥉 The third place won a 75% scholarship and was given to the paper on "Success Factors in Online Business". At the end of the ceremony, all students were given certificates for their participation. 18MAY A study visit to the Museum of the Bank of Albania Students of the Department of Economics and Business at the University College conducted a study visit to the Museum of the Bank of Albania in the framework of the International Day of Museums. They were accompanied on this visit by the staff of the department and received by representatives of the bank, responsible for escorting them to the museum premises and providing relevant information. During this visit, the students were introduced not only to the museum's facilities, but also to the various historical developments and the stages in which the consolidation of the institution has gone. On the first floor, the students were introduced to the Treasury Room or as it is otherwise known "Rondo", where the rich numismatic collection of the Bank of Albania was presented. Also, they had the chance to become closely acquainted with the historical and numismatic values that the currency carries, through the display of treasures, collections of coins and banknotes, which have circulated and been used in the historical territories of the country, from antiquity to the present day. Meanwhile, on the second floor, they were introduced to the history of the institution of the central bank in Albania, its role in maintaining price stability and guaranteeing the financial stability of the country, as well as constitutional functions, such as the father and the opportunity to visit the open exhibition especially for the International Day of Museums. On the other hand, the students were introduced to the bank's facilities that serve to educate the public and where visitors can be informed interactively. At the end, he presented to the students how the Albanian people have conceptualized different stages of development through the approach to money summarized in a collage with sequences from different Albanian cinematography films. 17MAY "Digital transformation in the time of challenges" In the framework of the International Day of Telecommunications and the Information Society, on May 17, the Department of Economics and Business at Bedër University College in collaboration with Fan S. Noli University of Korça and Albanian University, organized the third Student Conference on the topic "Digital transformation in the time of challenges". The Department of Economics and Business was represented by the students of the Economic Informatics program who presented their works. Student Alisia Sulkja participated with the paper on "Impact of the Internet on electronic business". Students Xhoi Shahini and Erida Hoxha presented the paper on "The importance of cyber security in the digital age". During this conference, students had the opportunity to receive information about the latest topics and trends in the field of Technology. Also, this event fostered the spirit of cooperation between them. At the end of the conference, the students were provided with certificates for their participation in this event. 15MAY Experience in entrepreneurship Open lecture with Mrs. Ms. Valbona Begolli, founder of Albacademy. The Career Office in cooperation with the Department of Economy and Business held an open lecture with Mrs. Valbona Begolli, founder of Albacademy. Ms. Begolli told the students about her experience as an entrepreneur, the difficulties, the challenges, but above all about the persistence in realizing her dream and passion. Ms. Begolli advised the students to set goals for themselves and try their best to achieve them. The lecture was accompanied by questions and there was a lot of interest from the students. In the end Mrs. Begolli presented her newest project: Young Entrepreneur, where she invited students to apply to be part of this project. 05MAY "ENTREPRETHON" Start-Up The "Entrepreneurship and Innovation" Club at Beder University College, with the support of the Department of Economics and Business, successfully completed the first "ENTREPRETHON" Start-Up competition. High school graduates from all over Albania participated in this competition, while students of the "Economic Informatics" study program served as mentors in this competition. Participating graduates presented their innovative business ideas in front of the jury consisting of: Mr. Shkëlzen Marku (chairman of the jury), founder and CEO of Enterimpact, Co-founder and Director of YSB Balkans; Ms. Faola Hodaj, Director of the Innovation Directorate in the Municipality of Tirana; Ms. Elda Dollija, head of the Department of Economics and Business at Beder University College. From 13 well-studied and structured high-quality projects, the jury selected the 3 best ideas, crowning them with 3 prizes: 🏆 First place won a 100% scholarship at Beder + Tablet University College. This award was won by the high school graduate from Librazhdi, Esmeralda Qytyku, who was presented with a concrete initiative in her town for organizing decorations for birthdays or other events, enabling her to generate income from this age. 🥈 The second place won an 80% scholarship at Beder University College + Smart watch. This award was won by graduates from Elbasan, Andi and Ardit Zylali, who presented in detail the structuring of a network of self-service gas stations, as a business model that reduces labor costs and increases service quality. 🥉 The third place won a 60% scholarship at Beder University College + earphones. This award was won by the graduates of the Economic Technical High School in Tirana, Eno Meko and Enso Bejkolli, who presented their project and business plan "Student World", a complex which aimed to accommodate students in premises with competitive prices, including and many facilities to help them.
